Successful Salespeople

The sales staff is a vital component that makes your business grow. Salespeople turn products or services into money. They make it possible to close a sale.

Besides, they are the face of the company. For this reason, companies are always looking for the best sales staff. Although getting the best employees is expensive and takes time, you have to look for qualified people. According to Kelly Robertson, author of "The Stop, Ask & Listen- Proven Sales Techniques, To Turn Browsers into Buyers", there are ten characteristics that successful salespeople must have. Here are some of them. Pay attention to them; maybe they could help you screen the best employees.

The first noticeable quality is persistence. Selling requires an extreme amount of it. Great salespeople must be able to face obstacles. Since they are creative people, they are always looking for new ideas. Once Dale Carnegie, the author of  "How to Win Friends and Influence People" said, "Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all."

The second characteristic is to be avid goal setters. These people always plan their challenges. They establish real, motivational and achievable goals according to their personal situation. The third attribute is that great salespeople ask quality questions. They ask fully informative questions in order to determine the expectations and needs of clients.

The fourth element that makes salespeople successful is to listen. Clients prefer that someone listen to them; for this reason, to be a good listener than a good speaker is more important for the sales force. Excellent salespeople listen carefully, take notes, and summarize their meetings with clients.

The fifth attribute successful salespeople must have is passion. They feel the company's brand and love what they do. When you believe in the products or services you are selling, you have higher probabilities to close an enormous sale.

The sixth aspect is that successful salespeople are enthusiastic. They are always positive, and they transfer their optimism to other people. They talk very good about the company, the products or services.

The seventh, eighth and ninth characteristics are summarized in responsibility. Successful salespeople are very responsible. They work very hard and can build strong rapport with clients. In order to reach their goals, they do not wait for opportunities to come to them; they go out and look for them. They understand that they are professionals; therefore, they know they are responsible for their own actions. Moreover, they maintain a constant communication with customers.

Finally, successful salespeople show value. They know that price is one of the factors that can affect customer's decision. However, they know that there are more aspects that clients consider when they buy something. Consequently, they must be able to create more valuable relationships with clients.
